THE LINE WHICH WENT DEAD

Every time he stood up,

Someone conspired up.

Inched towards something,

Someone despised up.

The legs buckled beneath him,

Heart skipped a beat,

’cause somebody made it up.

Made a quantum leap forward,

But the rest assured to set him up.

Ashen, snapped, deserted and dejected,

Held his hands up in defeat,

’cause the Satan’s minions gnawed him up.

Struck by a tumbling torrent of panic,

and hit by the pain blossoming in his soul,

He finally quit it up.

-Syed S. Ali
